Sounds of the Sixties is keen to showcase musicians of all ages we especially want to see young musicians helping in the revival of the 60's 'Merseybeat Sound' - If you play, or would like to learn this genre of music and would like to showcase your talent in front of a discerning audience in the club that helped develop the talent The Beatles, The Undertakers, The Merseybeats, The Searchers, Faron's Flamingos, The Mojos, The Roadrunners, Dale Roberts and The Jaywalkers, The Black Knights and many, many more... then we want to hear from you...

Involvement could earn you a place in the 'Rocket 808' project leading up to The Capital of Culture, Merseybeat Extravaganza in the year 2008.

Showcased bands are chosen at a later date to appear in our Featured Guest Spot...

We are currently looking for local, National and International bands who can play Early Rock 'n' Roll, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, The Hamburg Sound, Skiffle, Rock 'a' Billy and more...

The Cavern Club provides a full backline including Bass Rig, Amplifiers, Full PA (Operated by a high class Sound Engineer)...

Small Print

All funds raised at our Sunday night Jam Session and other Concerts/Gigs is donated to our musicians charity, therefore no fees or expenses are paid.

Individual Musicians who wish to perform as a part of scratch band on the night need to inform me, beforehand, that they will be attending, as time is very tight and we don't like to disappoint anybody. There is no guarantee that any musician without prior arrangement, for any session and without good notice will be showcased on any particular evening. I know that this sometimes causes offence, however, priority will be given to musicians who attend on a regular basis and discuss their requirements at the start of the night. If you are refused on any particular night - you can be assured that it will not be for personal reasons and will only be for the overall good of the project.

The Stage Manager will arrange and assist in the formation of individuals into a scratch band if that is at all possible, however, this is not the function of the stage manager and it is recommended that individuals make their own arrangements at the earliest possible time on the night in question.
