The Cavern Thursday 26th January
2006
Kingsize, Tommy and I arrange to meet in The Grapes, Mathew
Street, at 8:00
We have a couple of J20s and chat
about this and that.
Kingsize recognises Mick the drummer from
Chas and Dave who he hasn't seen, since the Hamburg days, forty
years ago. He goes over and they chat about old times - Dave Peacock
is drinking with Mick at the time.
The guy who lives in Paul McCartney's old
house 20,
Forthlin Road comes over and we have a discussion.
Its then off to see Chas and Dave in action
in the Cavern...
As we entered the back room the scene was
reminiscent of a football match... People were hanging from the
ceiling... I started to feel out of place - it was choca block with
fans but most of them were youngsters... after jostling though side
stage to try and get a decent view (couldn't manage less than 11
rows back) we suddenly found out what all the fuss was about. Chas,
Dave and Mick take their respective places and the Chas and Dave
experience blasts into existence... The fans know all the words and
intersperse the chorus with football style chants - it rocks from
start to finish - the audience were astounding the band were
magnificent and the whole night was a huge success...
Now it was backstage for kingsize and the
guys to reminisce about old places, old faces, old times and good ol
Rock 'n' Roll...
